Children's Pottery Class

Thursday March 14th

from 5pm to 6:30pm

Come on in to make a set of wind chimes. Adults must stay with children for the duration of class. We must make sure to put the students name on the back of their chimes. That is a lot of little pieces to keep track of so we just need to make sure all these pieces stay together. This class is for ages 6 to 10. Adults can participate at no extra charge. This class can hold up to 10 students. Supplies, glazing, and firing are included with the class. After the items are fired one to two weeks after class students can walk into our Northern Lights location during regular business hours to paint their items. This class is $35 per student. As with all our pottery classes projects can not be guaranteed to turn out. Cracking and exploding can happen in the kiln, this is a part of pottery and we will do our best to repair the items but can not offer a refund in such cases. To sign up go to our scheduler under March classes.  Students will be given patterns to choose from, the project includes one base and five chimes.

Watercolor Stamping for Kids

Wednesday March 20th

from 6:00pm to 7:30pm

This class is for ages 6 to 10. We will be playing with messy paints and stamps. We have been collecting stamps for this class for awhile now. Students will be learning to piece together an image by choosing stamps that go together.  We will also be learning to mix together colors to make secondary colors from primary colors. Parents must be present during class and are of course allowed to participate in the creative process. Students will get three sheets of watercolor paper, two for projects and one for silly practice. Supplies are included with this class. To schedule click on the "schedule now" button, if you have any troubles please send us a facebook message.

As with all our classes once the class is purchased we can not refund for the class or reschedule for another date. In the event of low attendance we will have to cancel class but will give students 48 hour notice ahead of time. Please make sure we have the correct phone number and email so we can stay in contact. You can gift your class to another person as long as you notify the studio ahead of time.

Electroforming Jewelry Class

Saturday March 23rd

from Noon to 3pm

It has taken of awhile to be sure we are confident in teaching this class. Like any other art form this takes practice, time, patience, and a few failures here or there. This is an amazingly fun process of taking something organic and "plating" copper around it to make it a wonderful piece of jewelry. It is so much fun but pieces will have to be left with us for up to a week to make sure that the copper is forming correctly. Even then it is never a guarantee but we want students be as successful as they can be here. The studio has a new loft at 1441 West Northern Lights Unit F Anchorage AK 99503. This class incudes the price of a crystal or opal of your choosing as well as anything organic you wish to add, could be a leave or as you see above a dragonfly. Fee free to bring things in and we will try to work with you. Call us at 907-343-9551 with any questions. To sign up go to the March page or our site. There is also a video posted to our page of how this process works so you can see what its all about. We will be starting with making one pendant is this class.  The cost of this class is $95 per student as the supplies for this class are very costly. If the scheduler will not allow you to book it may be that the class is full in which case please send us an email of facebook message.

This image is from an artist who gave us permission to use it. To check out her truly amazing jewelry please go to:

Design a Mandala Plate

Saturday March 2nd

Noon to 3pm

What is Sgraffito? Sgraffito in Italian means to "scratch". This workshop will teach you this technique as well as how to design your own Mandala! This technique takes a piece of greenware ( pottery that has been made but never fired and is still leather hard) covered in colored slip, which is a gooey clay, and the design is scratched away to reveal the pottery below. We will be using a protractor to make and design our mandala. After it is designed you will be taught to apply it to your plate and scratch it away. Plates are tricky in pottery. You will be working on handmade items so when something does not fire right the studio shares in that tragedy with you, but it is part of the process. The studio can not refund for a cracked or warped plate or if the color does not turn out as desired. This is the nature of pottery but its the risk that makes it fun. We want our students to be successful here though so we will do everything we can to make sure it turns out.

Slip Trailing Workshop!

Saturday March 23rd

Noon to 4pm

Come on in and sharpen your cake decorating skills! We will be putting slip clay into cake decorating bags and using the different tips. You will make our own unique mugs. Keep in mind this is tricky. We will spend the first 30 minutes of class just practicing on a sheet of wax paper. If you are a cake decorator already, you will rock at this! The clay just has a different consistency. The price of class includes a mug with a handle that is still wet, your additions to it will have to be put on before it dries as clay does not stick together once it is dry. Below is a short video on how it is done! Check it out! The items you make will have to be fired, then glazed with a color of your choice. Pottery will be ready two to three weeks after the workshop for pick up.  You must sign up in order to participate. This class is for ages 10+. This is a pottery class so cracking or imperfections during firing can happen and do not constitute a refund. The class is $50 per person with finished mug, studio time, glazing, etc. If you have any questions please call us at 907-343-9551 or send us a facebook message.  Featured below this video are also other examples of slip trailing. To sign up go to the "March" events on our scheduling site by hittitng "Schedule Now".
